Foundrymax Square 30×30×15mm Silicon Carbide Ceramic Foam Filters – Small Format for Compact Gating Systems
Foundrymax offers the 30×30×15mm Square Silicon Carbide (SiC) Ceramic Foam Filters – a compact square filter designed for foundries requiring reliable molten metal filtration in space‑constrained gating systems. With a 30×30mm footprint, this small‑format filter fits comfortably into narrow runners, small sprue bases, and multi‑cavity molds where larger squares cannot be accommodated.
Manufactured from high‑purity silicon carbide, the filter delivers a maximum working temperature of 1500°C, making it suitable for molten gray iron, ductile iron, aluminum, and copper alloys. The three‑dimensional reticulated structure provides over 85% open porosity, creating tortuous flow paths that effectively trap non‑metallic inclusions – including slag, dross, and refractory particles – without significantly restricting metal flow.
The filter is available in a range of pore densities from 10 to 40 PPI, allowing foundries to select the optimal grade based on their specific alloy, casting weight, and desired filtration precision – coarser grades for high‑throughput applications, finer grades for superior surface finish on precision components.
Key benefits for daily foundry operations:
-
Effectively reduces non‑metallic inclusions and gas defects, improving casting density and mechanical properties.
-
High porosity ensures low back‑pressure and stable mold filling.
-
Excellent thermal shock resistance and chemical stability against molten metal erosion.
