Carbonized Smokeless Fiberglass Filter Mesh for Molten Aluminum Filtration
Carbonized smokeless fiberglass filter mesh is our premium‑grade foundry consumable specially developed for high‑demanding aluminum alloy castings. Starting from high‑purity alkali‑free E‑glass woven fabric, the material goes through strict anaerobic high‑temperature carbonization inside closed kilns.
Most organic binders are removed in‑house during production. Therefore, when hot molten aluminum touches the filter on‑site, almost no combustion smoke, no pungent odor is generated. Its ultra‑low gas‑evolution property dramatically lowers pinhole, porosity and blister defects which are common pain‑points for precision aluminum foundries.
Besides low‑gas performance, carbonized mesh maintains stable structural strength under long‑time molten‑aluminum scouring, reduces fiber‑dropping risk. Widely trusted by automotive foundries, new‑energy component manufacturers and low‑pressure casting workshops globally.
- Nearly smokeless & odor‑free during casting pour, improves on‑site workshop environment
- Ultra‑low gas evolution value, minimizes pinhole, porosity and blister casting rejects
- Stable mesh geometry under high temperature; strong anti‑erosion performance, less fiber dropping
- Excellent capturing effect for fine oxide scale, slag and micro‑inclusions
- Works reliably for gravity casting, low‑pressure casting and special gating filtration
- Versatile shapes: disc, square, hat‑shaped filter, sheets and jumbo rolls, fully customizable geometry
- No harmful element leaching into molten aluminum alloy

Typical Applications
How It Works
Raw fiberglass fabric is pre‑carbonized in oxygen‑isolated furnace to burn off organics before delivery.
During pouring, molten aluminum passes through stable carbon‑reinforced woven network.
Slag, oxide skin and micro‑sized non‑metallic inclusions are trapped on fiber intersections.
Clean aluminum flows into mold cavity; nearly no smoke or extra gas is released inside foundry workshop.
Important Usage Notes
Even real carbonized filter should avoid violent impact and sharp cuts before installation. Damaged mesh causes bypass of impurities.
Secure proper support under filter piece to prevent floating under aluminum liquid pressure.
Although smoke‑free, normal foundry high‑temperature operation safety rules should still be followed.
Not all black‑colored fiberglass mesh equals smokeless grade; always refer to gas‑evolution test data.
Manufacturing & Quality Control
Only pure alkali‑free E‑glass fiber is selected as base material. Medium‑alkali fiber is strictly excluded to prevent melt contamination.
Every production batch is sampled and tested for gas‑evolution rate, high‑temperature strength and mesh dimension consistency. Mill test reports can be provided for bulk orders.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is the difference between carbonized smokeless filter and ordinary resin‑coated fiberglass filter?
A: Carbonized version undergoes pre‑burn carbonization process to eliminate organics; almost no smoke and very low gas output when contacting molten aluminum, for high‑end castings. Resin‑coated type is cost‑effective for general‑grade castings but produces smoke while pouring.
Q: Is every black fiberglass mesh smokeless?
A: Not all black‑colored mesh is real carbonized smokeless grade. Please judge by gas‑evolution index ≤30 cm³/g. Some competitors’ products are only surface black paint coating, still generate heavy smoke in casting.
Q: Sample & MOQ?
A: Sample pieces available, low MOQ for trial order. Submit inquiry form for detailed offer.
Q: Can carbonized filter eliminate all porosity defects?
A: It greatly reduces gas‑related porosity risk. Final casting quality is also affected by melting process, degassing and mold condition.
