Aluminium foundries often require different filtration levels depending on the casting type, section thickness, and quality requirements. Foundrymax’s Ø50mm alumina ceramic filter is available in 10 PPI or 20 PPI, allowing you to choose the pore density that matches your specific aluminium alloy and casting process—all within the same compact round footprint.

Choose the PPI That Fits Your Casting

• 10 PPI – Coarser pores (~2.5 mm) for higher flow rates. Suitable for larger aluminium castings, gravity casting, and applications where maintaining fill speed is the priority.

• 20 PPI – Finer pores (~1.2–1.5 mm) for enhanced inclusion capture. Recommended for thinner sections, low‑pressure casting, and components requiring superior surface finish.

Alumina – Performance at Aluminium Temperatures

Rated to 1200°C, alumina (Al₂O₃) is the standard material for aluminium and non‑ferrous alloy filtration. It is chemically stable in contact with molten aluminium, does not introduce contaminants, and delivers reliable performance at a cost‑effective price point.

Round Format – Practical and Versatile

The 50mm diameter disc fits neatly into round sprue wells, pouring cups, and filter boxes. The open‑cell reticulated structure (porosity 80–90%) creates tortuous paths that trap oxides and inclusions while maintaining stable metal flow.
