Foundrymax Square 100×100×25mm / 10PPI Zirconia Ceramic Foam Filter – Robust Square Format for Steel Casting
For steel foundries, the choice of filter shape is as important as the material. Round discs are common, but square formats often provide more efficient use of available space in rectangular sprue wells or runner extensions. Foundrymax’s 100×100×25mm zirconia ceramic foam filter combines the high‑temperature resilience of zirconia with a practical square geometry, delivering reliable filtration for carbon, alloy, and stainless steel castings.
Material Performance at Steel Temperatures
Rated to 1700°C, this filter is formulated to withstand the higher thermal load and chemical aggressiveness of steel melts, which typically pour between 1550°C and 1650°C.
The 100×100mm footprint offers a larger filtration area than a comparable round disc while fitting neatly into square or rectangular gating components. This can simplify placement and eliminate wasted space compared to round filters in rectangular basins. The 25mm thickness adds mechanical strength providing additional erosion resistance under the high‑static‑pressure conditions often encountered in large steel pours.
The open‑cell reticulated network creates a tortuous path that intercepts non‑metallics through both mechanical sieving and surface adhesion. Delivering cleaner metal to the mould cavity results in fewer inclusion‑related defects, improved tensile properties, and a smoother surface finish on finished components.
Why Foundrymax for This Square Zirconia Filter?
Our in‑house manufacturing capability allows us to produce this 100×100 square format with consistent pore uniformity and dimensional precision. We offer alternative PPI grades (10, 20, 30) and thickness variations to match specific steel grades and section sizes.
