Foundrymax Rectangular 120×75×22mm / 10PPI Alumina Ceramic Foam Filter
Foundrymax offers the 120×75×22mm alumina ceramic foam filter with 10 PPI pore density for aluminium and non‑ferrous foundries.
10 PPI serves a specific purpose for aluminium casting: high flow rate applications. For larger castings, heavy sections, or gravity casting processes where fill speed is critical, a coarser pore structure reduces back‑pressure and ensures stable mould filling. This filter prioritises throughput while still capturing coarse slag, dross, and refractory particles.
The 120×75mm footprint provides more filtration area than a 100mm round disc while maintaining a compact profile. The rectangular shape is often preferred for gating systems where sprue bases or runner extensions are square or rectangular, offering efficient use of available space. At 22mm thick, it provides mechanical strength for handling and pouring pressures.
Alumina (Al₂O₃) is rated to 1200°C. It is chemically stable in contact with molten aluminium and non-ferrous melts, does not react with or contaminate the alloy, and provides reliable performance at a cost-effective price point.
The 10 PPI coarse‑pore structure captures larger inclusions while maintaining good permeability. The open‑cell reticulated structure traps inclusions through mechanical sieving and adhesion.
